Urgent: Defend Palestinian human rights activist Sami Huraini

Sami Huraini has been defending his ancestral homeland his whole life. He is a shepherd by trade, grazing his sheep and tending his native land in Masafer Yatta in the South Hebron Hills.

He has become a human rights defender by necessity. Like all Indigenous Palestinian residents of Masafer Yatta, Sami has been fighting to remain in his homeland and stop the Israeli regime from stealing it. Already these past three months in Masafer Yatta, Israel has forced 84 Palestinians from their homes, on track to displace 2,000 residents total.

Now, the Israeli regime is retaliating against Sami for his human rights activism.

In just a few weeks, on October 30, an Israeli court will sentence Sami—and that’s why it’s urgent to raise the alarm. Email your members of Congress now!

Sami has been pivotal in shaping our U.S. advocacy. His human rights work is absolutely vital, and it’s absolutely necessary to defend his rights as a native Palestinian person.

Sami cofounded the organization Youth of Sumud to resist Israel’s land theft and to support steadfast Palestinian farmers. He’s become a high-profile human rights defender on the front lines, documenting Israeli violence and giving testimony to the United Nations.
