All eyes on the Hague: WE CHARGE GENOCIDE!

_Call It What It Is Genocide

By Ahmad Abuznaid, USCPR Executive Director

This is a day that will go down in history. This morning, South Africa presented its damning evidence that Israel is committing the crime of genocide against the Palestinian people at the International Court of Justice.

South Africa is seeking an immediate order to halt Israel’s military assault on Gaza. While there isn’t an enforcement mechanism, the entire world is watching what happens at the court today and tomorrow.

South Africa has long stood in solidarity with the Palestinian people in our struggle against apartheid. Now, their lawyers are going to bat against the Israeli apartheid state on the world stage, with a searingly thorough and compelling case.

“The evidence of genocidal intent is not only chilling, it is also overwhelming and incontrovertible,” said South African lawyer Tembeka Ngcukaitobi at the Hague.

ALL EYES ON THE HAGUE. Today, the most important thing you can do is to talk about this genocide case using every platform you have, in your local community and online.

When a genocide happens, it’s extremely important to sound the alarm to stop it as soon as possible. Call it what it is: GENOCIDE. Tell everyone you know it’s genocide. Raise awareness by sharing the evidence of unfolding genocide.

Here’s what you can do:

1. Post on social media with the hashtag #EndIsraelsGenocide. Tag the Biden administration: @POTUS@SecBlinken, and @SecDef. You can use this sample tweet, share video, and edit it to your own personal voice to beat the algorithm. Download social media graphics here.

WE CHARGE YOU WITH GENOCIDE, @POTUS @SecBlinken @SecDef

I’m following South Africa’s damning ICJ case against Israel today. This is a GENOCIDE, and Biden has been fueling it. The blood of 30,000 Palestinians is on his hands.

2. Host a teach-in about the genocide hearings, to watch the arguments and discuss how you can take action. Call Congress and post to social media on the spot.

3. Plan your next protest. You can participate in the We Charge Genocide International Day of Action on Friday, Jan. 26, when Palestinians will be charging Biden for enabling genocide in a new federal lawsuit.

4. Listen to discussions about the genocide hearings on Friday. Join the “Gaza at the ICJ: A Briefing Session” live from the Hague with the Center for Constitutional Rights at 12 noon ET, or join “South Africa’s Historic Case for Gaza at the Hague: What Is Next?” with USPCN at 1 PM ET.

5. If you’re in the U.S., call Congress now! Tell them you’re watching South Africa’s case at the International Court of Justice. Remind them that they, too, can face charges if found to be complicit in genocide.

This is a turning point. No matter what happens, keep fighting for justice.
