USCPR’s ED shares the U.S. Military Funding to Israel Map on the Katie Halper Show

Slide 2 Final (4)

On the most recent episode of The Katie Halper Show, USCPR Executive Director Ahmad Abuznaid introduced our new U.S. Military Funding to Israel Map, which shows how much your community pays to fund Israel’s brutal violence against the Palestinian people.

“My tax dollars shouldn’t be going to support an apartheid regime anywhere, but it’s especially personal and painful when that apartheid regime is holding your people captive,” Ahmad said on The Katie Halper Show.

Watch a short five-minute clip from the show below.

Every year, the U.S. government writes Israel a blank check for at least $3.8 billion to fund Israel’s violence against the Palestinian people. The Israeli military then uses your tax dollars to kill Palestinian people, destroy their homes, and steal their native land, in violation of U.S. laws.

On USCPR’s Military Funding Map, you can see how much people in your city pay in federal tax dollars to fund the Israeli military’s violence. Then you can see the community needs that could be funded instead, like housing, children’s healthcare, and student debt relief.

“These are numerous priorities that community members are asking to be funded, but our federal government instead prioritizes arming Israel,” Ahmad said.

Imagine what the liberated future could look like if the U.S. government stopped funding state violence like the Israeli military and the $90-million policing project Cop City, and instead funded life-giving resources for our communities. You can email your members of Congress to demand they take action.

All people have the right to live safe and free. The U.S. government is the primary funder of the Israeli military, directly enabling the Israeli apartheid state to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people.

“Until we get liberation, until we end the occupation, until we stop funding and arming apartheid, no Palestinian community there is safe,” Ahmad said.
