USCPR Executive Director Comments on Silwan, Jerusalem Demolitions 

Since Israel began its demolitions in al-Bustan neighborhood of Silwan, Jerusalem, a small group of progressive House members criticized Israel on Twitter using the hashtag #SaveSilwan. Rep. Chuy Garcia, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Rep. Andre Carson, and Rep. Cori Bush tweeted about the demolitions and how they will displace Palestinian people, while Rep. Mark Pocan and Rep. Rashida Tlaib also retweeted information about the demolitions in Silwan.

As quoted in Mondoweiss, USCPR Executive Director Ahmad Abuznaid commented on the fact that Democratic lawmakers must work to end these expulsions and end U.S. military funding to Israel: 

“The calls for Palestinian freedom and justice are more popular than ever. Defunding apartheid is the minimum. We demand the Democratic Party leadership act to end these expulsions immediately, including by ending US military funding to Israel.”
