Strategic Planning Facilitator

POSITION: Facilitator for Strategic Planning Process

SUMMARY

The US Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR) is hiring a facilitator for our strategic planning process. We are looking for someone to help lead this process along with our close-knit team of passionate individuals dedicated to advancing Palestinian rights at the intersection of grassroots organizing, policy change, and popular education. We want a holistic process that builds internal consensus within our organization and a shared understanding with our movement partners on our organizational work and priorities through 2024.

As the ideal candidate, you will have experience leading a team. You are creative, well-organized, detail-oriented, passionate about justice, well-informed about the Palestinian struggle for freedom (and ideally its connections with other justice movements), and self-starting. 

This is a short-term, part-time, contract position lasting from February-September of 2021.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing an inclusive process for staff and our board to identify and refine key programmatic and organizational priorities
  • Leading the process from beginning to end, including:
    • Facilitating a series of meetings of the strategic planning committee
    • Developing, implementing and analyzing surveys of our board, staff, and movement partners, including phone interviews. 
    • Working with committee to submit strategic plan to board by September 2021

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience leading strategic planning processes
  • Experience with leadership development
  • Experience addressing structural oppression and inclusivity within social justice movements
  • Strategic planning experience with organizations in this political space
  • Knowledge of organizing within the Palestine liberation or solidarity movements in the U.S., and ideally with parallel justice movements

Communications Director

LOCATION: Washington, DC metro area
COMPENSATION: $63,000-66,000 based on years of relevant experience

SUMMARY

The US Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR) is hiring a full-time Communications Director to join our close-knit team of passionate individuals dedicated to advancing Palestinian rights at the intersection of grassroots organizing, policy change, and popular education. The Communications Director is responsible for elevating USCPR’s public profile and collaboratively designing and executing campaigns that further USCPR’s mission.

The Communications Director will manage communications for USCPR including supervising the Digital Communications Associate, and all aspects of USCPR’s internal and external communications, divided between strategy, planning, and branding (25%), messaging (25%), media outreach (30%), email program and list management (15%), and graphic design (5%).

As the ideal candidate, you will have experience managing a team and building a media outreach program. You are creative, well-organized, detail-oriented, an excellent writer, impeccable proofreader, passionate about justice, well-informed about the Palestinian struggle for freedom (and ideally its connections with other justice movements), and self-starting. You will have an eye for design, experience branding, and established connections with the media.

This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC. Benefits include paid time off, health and dental insurance, a retirement plan with matching employer contributions, and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating the overall communications strategy and annual communications plan; This includes a robust social media strategy;
  • Elevating the organization’s public profile and USCPR’s messaging and brand;
  • Enforcing the USCPR branding and messaging guides;
  • Editing and approving all external communications and resources.;
  • Coordinating with programs and development departments to develop and implement campaigns that further USCPR’s mission;
  • Managing media relations, developing strong relationships with media representatives, identifying and maximizing media opportunities;
  • Managing the email program and all email-related lists and reports in the EveryAction CRM;
  • Developing talking points and messaging for media opportunities to ensure the articulation of USCPR’s position and mission;
  • Drafting press releases and writing copy as needed;
  • Formatting toolkits, reports, development materials, resources, etc. in the Adobe Creative Suite as needed;
  • Managing the editorial direction, development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral
  • including, but not limited to, toolkits, reports, resources, briefs, emails, videos, direct mail campaigns;
  • Managing outside contractors and freelancers as needed;
  • Determining objectives, SMART goals, and benchmarks for the communications department according to the strategic priorities and plan, ensuring that evaluation systems are in place, monitoring progress and evaluating performance;
  • Managing the communications budget;
  • Supervising the Digital Communications Associate.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Proficiency in HTML/CSS
  • Advance graphic design skills in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with EveryAction CRM preferred
  • Experience developing and enforcing a brand
  • Experience with media outreach
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Experience with growing and managing a team and talent with direct supervision
  • Experience with nonprofit grassroots fundraising preferred
