On June 28, 32 Members of Congress sent a letter to the State Department calling on the United States to urge Israel to reconsider its charges against Palestinian human rights defender Issa Amro.
Issa faces 18 charges in Israeli military court stemming from his nonviolent activism against illegal Israeli settlements in the city of Hebron. These courts convict Palestinians at a 99.74 percent rate, a fact which led these Members of Congress to fear the court “will not render a fair and impartial verdict.”
The letter also defends “the right of Palestinians to peacefully politically organize and demonstrate.”
Please thank these Members of Congress for speaking out on behalf of Issa and the right of Palestinians to protest Israel’s military occupation and settlements.
